Greenhouse Workers – Full time, Part time, and Seasonal

The job duties and qualifications are:  Workers typically perform a variety of tasks which may include: planting, watering, labeling, plant production activities and general greenhouse production duties as assigned. Able to maintain interest and attention in repetitive jobs. Work involves standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, and frequent carrying and lifting up to 35 pounds on a regular basis.

Entry level; on the job training is provided. 

 

 

Head Grower

Manage all growing personnel to meet production and quality goals.  Works with management team to plan for growing activities that are consistent with planned production schedules.  Manage all greenhouse environmental controls and greenhouse environment per crop protocols.  Manage all plant needs of crops including irrigation, fertilizer, chemical, insect and disease management, and crop timing.  Maintain all crop production records.  Ensure quality and timing of overall crop production.  Plans for and requests staff on a timely basis to meet high volume growing season.  Oversee and ensure Worker Protection Standard (WPS) compliance.  Minimum Qualifications:  4 year degree in Horticulture or related field.  3 or more years of practical experience in a commercial greenhouse.  Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions necessary to identify a wide variety of conditions such as plant diseases, existence of insects, etc.  Must have knowledge and ability to identify major plant groups and be aware of their culture and growth traits.  Strong desire to grow plants and work in greenhouse environment.  Excellent management and communication skills, Spanish a plus.  Ability to successfully manage large groups of people.  Good organizational and computer skills.  Team player and willingness to complete tasks at hand and the ability to train others.  Will hold or obtain a Kansas Pesticide applications license.  Work involves standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and frequent carrying and lifting up to 35 lbs on regular basis.  Able to work 7 days a week as needed.
